We recently saw two days straight of over 98% attendance! That is the first time in a few months that we saw attendance rates that high! We know there are some illnesses going around right now, but we want to remind everyone that students are only required to stay home if they've had a fever in the last 24 hours, are having stomach issues that require them to be close to the toilet, or are so lethargic they are having a hard time conducting normal daily tasks. Please remind your students to wash their hands regularly and cover their mouths when coughing and sneezing, this can help stop the spread of illnesses and allow for less attendance issues. We are getting close to the end of the school year and it is really important for students to be in school as much as possible as they are beginning to learn the foundational skills they will need to be successful as they level up next year. As always, if there is something we can help you with getting your child to school on a regular basis, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Don't forget about our Family Movie Night happening this afternoon in the auditorium! Doors open at 3:15PM. Parent/Guardian attendance is required. Admission is FREE!
We will be selling snack boxes for $5 that include candy, chips, and a bottled water. The PTO will also be there selling Elk Hills blankets, $25 cash or $26 with your card.
Please see flier for additional details or contact Mrs. Soto-Valencia at 765-7431 or grsoto@elkhills.org
We hope to see you there!

Staff Spotlight: Johnell Ward, Afterschool Program Director: Hi, I’m Johnell Ward, and I’m thrilled to serve as the director of the afterschool program at Elk Hills and the proud founder of JCW Kicks for Kids. For the past three and a half years, I’ve been lucky enough to partner with Elk Hills, and let me tell you, this community has stolen my heart!
What I love most about my work is the magic that happens when we break through the trust barrier. Building strong connections with our youth and their parents is incredibly rewarding. I’m passionate about pushing kids beyond their perceived limits and inspiring them to dream about college. Together, we’re striving to help them achieve those grades and behaviors that will get them there.
I truly believe in the incredible work our school administrators and teachers do, and I can't thank them enough for believing in the kids. We’re all in this together, and when our students succeed, it’s a win for everyone!

Our annual school-wide egg hunt is on April 11, and we need your help! Candy donations are needed! All candy must be individually wrapped and sealed and be able to fit into a plastic egg. Candy can be dropped off in the office until 4/4/25. If you have questions please reach out to Cassandra McGowan: camcgowan@elkhills.org or 661-765-7431.
